Every morning ,when the alarm clock rings, the first thing we wonder is why the day has begun so soon.We want night to come faster ,but we have to wait till the sun sets in.But how it happens! The Earth’s rotation around its axis is responsible for our days and nights.Different sides of the Earth face towards the Sun due to this rotation. The side which is facing the Sun has day and the other side has night. .
a) Axis of the Earth :
It is an imaginary line which extends from North pole to South pole. It is the line around which earth spins. It is tilted at 23.5 degrees.
b) Earth’s Rotation:
Earth rotation is movement or spinning of the Earth around its axis. The Earth rotates from the West to the East. The Earth rotates once in about 24 hours with respect to the Sun and it takes about 23 hours 56 minutes and 4 seconds to complete one rotation with respect to the stars.
c) Most brightness during the day:
The sun shines brightly over the equator. The air near the equator gets very warm because the equator faces the sun directly .Hence places around equator have very high temperatures as compared to the areas away from it
